The Notre Dame de Bayeux is one of the masterpieces of Norman Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Located at the presumed site of the forum of the Gallo-Roman city of Augustodurum and replacing a building of Merovingian period , the current cathedral was consecrated July 14, 1077 and is part of a remarkably preserved Episcopal Ensemble
